Xt-EHR was at the heart of the discussions at ADHW, with a strong focus on the European Health Data Space (EHDS), contributing to high-level panels, expert sessions, and industry forums to shape the next steps in digital health transformation. Athens Digital Health Week 2025 brought together key stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the future of digital health. Here are some of the key highlights of Xt-EHR’s participation.
EHDS High-Level Summit
On January 28, Xt-EHR led the High-Level EHDS Summit, kicking off with an inspiring Plenary Session chaired by Christos N. Schizas, Xt-EHR Coordinator. The session featured keynote speeches from Fulvia Raffaelli (DG SANTE) on “Building the EHDS Vision: Unlocking Opportunities, Addressing Challenges” and Chrysoula Lentzou (HaDEA) on “HaDEA Supporting the Implementation of the European Health Data Space.”
The Summit concluded with a dynamic High-Level Panel Discussion, moderated by Alexander Berler, where leading experts explored EHDS opportunities and challenges. The discussion emphasized the critical role of interoperability, data governance, and practical implementation across Europe. Panellists shared valuable insights on how to unlock the full potential of EHDS for a more connected and efficient healthcare system.
EHDS Industry Forum: Industry Engagement and EHDS Implementation
On January 29, Xt-EHR played a crucial role in the EHDS Industry Forum, where experts such as Andreas Neocleous, Juha Mykkanen, and Haris Karanikas shared their perspectives on the role of industry players in driving EHDS adoption. With the support of IHE-Europe and HL7 Hellas, this collaborative session focused on vendor-driven insights and the path to a commonly accepted approach for EHDS adoption.
EHDS Experimentation Lab & Ask the Expert Sessions
Xt-EHR co-chaired the EEHRxF Ask the Expert session on January 29. The session focused on the implementation of the EEHRxF framework and its technical specifications. Andreas Neocleous presented the Xt-EHR challenges and the necessary conformity assessments for the adoption of EHDS across EU member states. Discussions revolved around the integration of FHIR and DICOM standards, the use of SNOMED CT and LOINC for coding systems, and the development of logical models for data structures. Furthermore, the session explored how stakeholder engagement and maturity level definitions are crucial for ensuring compliance with EHDS regulations and supporting the European Commission in forming implementing acts.
Looking Ahead
It was an incredible pleasure to reconnect with our colleagues from across Europe, exchanging ideas, engaging in discussions, and exploring new perspectives that will shape our work on Xt-EHR. We look forward to building on these experiences and advancing a more integrated and interoperable European Health Data Space.
