The use of the Patient Summary | Capacity Building / Education Track
A patient summary can have a key role in informing health care professionals on their first encounter with a patient. Different contexts may require slightly different patient summaries. However, there is a large overlap across the different summaries. These common elements, as well as commonly found sections are brought together in the EN ISO International Patient Summary standard and its accompanying HL7 IPS implementation guides, SNOMED IPS Terminology and IHE IPS and sIPS profiles. The IPS has inspired a lot of countries to pursue their national Patient Summary projects. This session will not only focus on the various specifications and implementations but also cover research on the clinical value of patient summaries.
